The confirmation class at Temple Emanu-El serves teens from 8th-10th grade, culminating with a ceremony at the end of 10th grade. The class meets once a month on Sundays, from 10:00am-12pm, and is taught by Rabbi Brenner Glickman and guest teachers.
The students are engaged in the studies because they choose the topics personally. We tackle the most intriguing questions of our day, and look directly to the Torah and the Talmud for guidance. Recent topics have included, Tattoos and Piercings, The Afterlife, The Death Penalty, and 50 Yiddish Words Every Jew Should Know.
Very importantly, we give the kids a 30-minute snack break in the midst of studies to build bonds of friendship with their fellow teens. The kids love the whole experience.
